MAP-Talk 3: “Individual, Community and Arts”
Sun 15 Oct 2017, 3 – 5 pm
Heritage Space
From Heritage Space:
Heritage Space introduces its next talk, MAP-Talk 3 “Individual, Community and Arts” with presentations of Dim Tim Art Collective from Serbia and two young artists Can Van An and Hanh Tran from Hanoi (Vietnam). The talk is going to be led by artist Tran Trong Vu. It is a part of the exchange activities in “Month of Art Practice – MAP 2017” by Heritage Space.
Given the common theme of MAP 2017 – The Utopia Land, the 3nd talk will be artist’s sharing views on the multi-dimensional relationship between arts and the role of community and artists in this complex shrinking world.
As pioneering artists from Serbia, Dim Tim Art Collaborative Group has undertaken a wide range of art-based projects of murals and sculptures in public space. Being flexible in their art practice with the focus on the integration of different cultures because of globalization, Dim Tim has successfully raised concerns on relationships and behaviors of the modern day.
Hanh Tran is a young female artist who creates arts through photography. Her recent experimental works explored the nature’s ability to express itself; her choice of angles techniques have sparked various mysterious states of mind in the audience. Joining the “Month of Art Practice – MAP 2017” project would be both an opportunity and a challenge for Hanh Tran to practice her experiments further in terms of creating arts.
Can Van An is a senior student majoring in Painting at the Vietnam University of Fine Arts. He uses paintings as his main means to reveal historical, cultural and artistic features hidden in the relationships of architectural works, public and private spaces. He places those relationships in connection with his subjective imagination where reality and fantasy are mixed. As a young artist with potential, Can Van has been invited to Heritage Space’s Month of Art Practice programs twice.
Language: English and Vietnamese with translation
