You are invited to the exhibition “Men dan ba” of 24 artworks by the artist couple Nguyen Duc Huy and Dang Thi Thu An.

At the opening of the exhibition at 9.30 pm on Dec 22, 2017, the two artists will have a talk with critic Nguyen Xuan Nguyen on their art careers.

Nguyen Duc Huy was born in 1976 in Dong Hoi, Quang Binh. He graduated from the Faculty of Arts, Hue University of Fine Arts in 2003. At the beginning of his career, he devoted himself to the experimental practices and never stopped looking for new ways of expression with abstraction and impressionism. From 2016, he shifted towards finding decorative visual representations and stylized shapes combined with realism to “find a new perspective and the innocence, freeing the power of creativity”. This also the foundation for his artworks in this exhibition.

Dang Thi Thu An was born in 1983 in Dong Hoi, Quang Binh. She graduated from Fine Arts Education Department, Hue University – College of Arts; then earned her Master of Visual Arts from Mahasarakham University, Thailand (2012). With a dreamy, surreal style, she gained major success with her solo exhibition “Giao cảm” (2013). She currently never stops renewing herself with edgier, “sassier” artworks in this exhibition, which express her viewpoint that “painting is a journey of exploration, of renewal and clarity of emotions in jumbled memories and inner soul of the artist”.
