“‘The Jealousy of Le Barbouille’ is a comedy. It’s not just fun, it is very fun. I have always agreed with Aristotle: the nature of art is entertainment. ‘The Jealousy of Le Barbouille’ is very entertaining, everybody would feeling happy when it finishes, but after that they contemplate on certain things.”
Based on the original work by French playwright Molière, “The Jealousy of Le Barbouille” by Meritorious Artist Tran Luc successfully blends the French sarcasm with Vietnamese contemporary factors. Here, they encounter a “Cinderfella” struggle with his job as a “xe ôm” (motorbike taxi), and a “false” professor talking non-stop about degrees, and a helper waiting to go “live” at any given time or place. The stories of everyday life are well analyzed, and the messages are well delivered through the characters’ words and actions.
“The Jealousy of Le Barbouille” – an impressive stage performance full of laughter which brings new meaning to everyday life stories.
