Religious belief plays an indispensable role in the spiritual life of the Vietnamese and is a lively manifestation of the Vietnamese culture. Not only helping to ease the pain, the loss of the unfortunates, religious belief also acts as an encouragement that leads people towards kindness and help them overcomes difficulties in life. Despite vicissitudes that it encountered through the years – even banned from practice at times – the worship of Mother Goddesses is still present and practiced in some parts of the country. Today, this belief has become a symbol of the Vietnamese culture. The book “Mother Goddesses – The sacred realm in the real world” – which systematically organize knowledge on the worship of Mother Goddesses – will help readers understand more about the practice, the belief and a culture so unique to Vietnam, which was recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage in December 2016.
