From TPD:
Film lovers are cordially invited to a cinematic discussion hosted by the Centre for Assistance and Development of Movie Talents (TPD).
The 7th art, cinema, is considered by Italian film critic to be a synthesis of the other six (architecture, sculpture, painting, music, poetry). Throughout a century of development, the classical and avant-garde elements of cinema have constantly helped filmmakers pushing all boundaries.
“Cinema is a matter of what’s in the frame and what’s out.” – Martin Scorsese
As filmmakers, not only do we look for meaning from the scripts or learn the hard techniques, but we should also care about the frames.
In this discussion, we will discuss one key element of a movie frame which has several functions and meanings, in order to understand the intention of past genius filmmakers and “play” with it ourselves.
Host: Director Tran Thanh
Free entry
This is a monthly event held at TPD which aims to generate conversations about cinema. Snacks will be provided.
