You are invited to “Realities” – a screening and discussion of Vietnamese Independent Films with filmmakers. It is part of activities of the program FilmStoryTeller One Year Anniversary.
The films were filmmed by members of Hanoi Doclab in collaboration with the Taleson project, produced by Hanoi Doclab and Jamie Maxtone-Graham.
1. Frame of Traces
(23′, 2017, Ngô Thị Thanh)
A landscape floats on traces of reality. There will be portraits and lives (un-)framed by sounds, images, voices that constantly stretch and vanish in a fragile flow of signification. It does not mean the film represents the unpresentable. 23 minutes of (de-)constructed time, space, concepts, and art forms, the film echoes innermost feelings.
2. summer siesta: 6th hour counting from dawn

In the midsummer of a tropical country, persons are taking their siesta, personas dream of time, nothing but the tranquility of time.
3. Untitled.mp4

A found footage film with material and videos appropriated from the Internet, exploring different scenarios that once occurred, are occurring or could possibly occur.
4. A death is a death is not a death

A vast rice field. An announcement. A hopeless escape. A death.
*** About FILMstoryteller:
“FILM storyteller” is a screening program that concentrates on the diversity of accesses and ways of reading film from the vision of a storyteller – writer like a filmmaker. Through 3 activities: screening – discussion – review, like a suggestion, we also concern about the film as a material to flourish blossom of awareness and expression of and with participants.We would like to encourage and call for every discovery – submission – encounter – experience from the host – the watcher – the filmmaker to create chit – chat, talks, and more. Each participant will be given a chance to experience and challenge himself or herself in various roles to lengthen endless narratives.

Heritage Space is a combination of a gallery, library, concert hall, co-working space, boarding room and outdoor space with the possibility of organizing exhibitions, concerts and performances, education and exchange, artists residency programs, and many other activities. Run by a team of curators, art researchers, and artists, Heritage Space is aspiring to become an intersection of individuals/groups/ organizations from a wide range of domestic and international creative fields, with a long-term goal to support and develop the creative industry in Vietnam.
Entrance fee: 30,000VND (for adults) and 20,000VND (for students). Free for members of Heritage Space Library (please bring your student card or membership card)
One free drink and popcorn will be served.
