Artist Film #1: Jangwook Lee / 16mm projection
Jangwook Lee is a filmmaker, artist, curator, and director of Hand-made film lab space Cell in Seoul, Korea. Jangwook is also Director of EXiS Film Festival – a significant experimental film festival in Seoul; and co-founders of the Asian Artist Moving Image Platform (AAMP).
1. “Surface of memory, memory on surface”
Korea/1999/color/silent/23min/16mm
This film is in the form of personal diary. Using the everyday images captured on film, new images are created through various surface treatments and combinations. This is a part of the act of the maker to converse with his memories and to restructure them. This work is the result of conversation between the author (various surface treatments and combinations) and fixed images on film as the memories.
2. “Autumn Film”
Korea/2013/B&W/silent/13min/16mm
This film is inspired by the moment of one autumn day from my childhood. The moment I experienced was impossible to be measured or represented. I became curious this ‘Image of Time’. This film is a first step for the journey.
