From the organizer:

Seminar: Children Learn While They Play – how and what do they learn? What do children learn when they play? – Professionals from Vietnam, France and Germany will share their experience and insights about the use and value of outdoor playground for children.

Playing conveys happiness to all children; however not all parents like to watch their children play outdoors. But there are valuable insights to be acknowledged. We invited two experts from France and Germany to share with us their insights and experience about the importance of playing. They will bring along hands-on experiences, and exciting new ideas which are relate to theories of educational culture for children. This seminar offers an opportunity for Vietnamese professionals and parents to get into a dialogue with our guests on the issues of education, life skills development and, more importantly, ways to make the presence and future of our children a life of fulfillment and happiness.

THINK PLAYGROUNDS and their partners invite parents and educators to attend the conference to learn and discuss this topic.

The conference is part of a series of events called the Play Campaign. The aim is to build a dialogue with the community about the importance of playing for the mental and personality development of our children. The program is supported by the German-French Culture Foundation, the Goethe-Institut Hanoi, the French Cultural Center L’Espace Hanoi and other sponsors and partners.

GUEST SPEAKERS:

Ms. Bianca Elgas – CEO of Kukuk Kultur

KuKuk develops, plans and builds Europe’s unique experience, play and outdoor spaces for people of all ages. Complex and dynamic structures invite you to climb, hang, jump, balance and train your motor skills, flexibility, strength, endurance and coordination. They allow manifold sensory perceptions and provide occasions for communication. KuKuk wants to promote the independent and direct experience of reality as well as the spontaneous and holistic treatment of the (natural) environment.

Ms. Déborah Gentès – Director of Journey Pour Vivre, a French organization whose mission is to promote free play of children in educational spaces.

“Teaching more than twenty years in a kindergarten, I practiced an innovative program based on the ‘natural method’ of learners, stemming from experiences and collaboration between children. And as a doctorate in educational science, I do research – acting on educational relationships in spaces, called informal learning. Through those spaces children get to experience games and practice ‘free’ art. They have these experiences in spaces organized and arranged by adults, with materials that will allow them to explore different structures and to develop their creativity.”

Mr. Nguyễn Tiêu Quốc Đạt – Co-founder of THINK PLAYGROUNDS, a social enterprise with the mission of creating public spaces and playground for children in Vietnam.
