Heritage Space proudly introduce ‘VISIBLE & INVISIBLE’ – the final exhibition of the Contemporary Art exchange project ‘Month of Arts Practice’ – MAP 2018.

‘VISIBLE & INVISIBLE’, which is theme of ‘Month of Art Practice’ project – MAP 2018, plays a role in inspiring artists for thinking, exploring, collecting data and materials from thinking, exploring, disassembling the multifaceted materials from the endogenous and peripheral worlds, and thereby building up their artistic aesthetic perspective, in the paradoxical states of mind.

‘VISIBLE & INVISIBLE’ exhibition presents artworks of 14 artists from Germany, Finland, Switzerland, South Korea, Japan and Viet Nam. All works are results of 6 exchange and working weeks of MAP. Disciplines are varied from painting, sculpture, photo and videography, multimedia and performance, installation and site-specific art. As René Daumal has said: “The door to the invisible must be visible”(1), the artists did seek the invisible from the visible, in the life and Hanoi sceneries that they feel, in themselves. They went beyond mere outer appearance to approach unseen stories. They seek to express the invisible through the visible means of visual art, to let artists perceive the world with approaches that are not merely visual.

Not only the artists, the other participants who considerably contributed into exhibition ‘VISIBLE & INVISIBLE’ are selected art experts, who are established in the international art scene, including curators, scholars, researchers, artists. They involved as independent consultants, and acting as mentor for Vietnamese artists in sharping ideas and improving the final works.

About MAP:

Founded by artist Trần Trọng Vũ, it aims to create an exchange and educational platform in Contemporary Art for young emerging Vietnamese artists with establish selected international artists around the world. The project also creates opportunities of interaction and dialogue between artists and communities, in order to improve the understanding and experiments in Contemporary Arts for normal people by series of public programs. By then, it is effort to remove the gap between new arts/ artists and society.

Heritage Space is a combination of an art gallery, a library, a concert hall, co-working office, residency space, artist studios and some open-stages, which has the capacity to host art exhibitions, music events, educational programs, multi-creative forms, artist-in-residency programs and others. Run by a group of curators, artists, researchers, musicians and architects, Heritage Space’s mission is to become a HUB for individuals and groups working on multi-disciplines from both inside and outside of the country to support and develop the creative industries in Vietnam.
