Vietnam’s Quest Festival Vies For Outstanding Social Impact Award In Vegas
From Quest Festival:
Heading into its sixth year, Quest Festival has already been recognized as one of the Top 300 Festivals in the World and has caught the attention of major international platforms once again. Showcasing the breadth of music, art and culture across Vietnam and the broader Southeast Asian region, the Hanoi-based event now stands shoulder to shoulder with more seasoned festivals, vying for FestX’s 2018 award for Outstanding Social Impact.
“Year in, year out, our team put so much hard work into this festival, and coming into our sixth year, we are tremendously proud and humbled to be recognised by XLIVE,” explained festival founder Jeremy Wellard.
Taking place in Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas, USA, between December 9 and 12, the XLIVE Annual Conference and Expo offers a range of opportunities to learn, network and evolve live event experiences. Among the conference’s highlight is the second annual FestX Awards, honouring innovators in the festival space and celebrating festival producers.
“We have always had a strong social focus,” he said, “having a positive social impact has been an integral part of the festival and we are pleased to create a festival that has meaning and substance with the power to promote positive change. We are proud to be considered amongst festivals that we admire and value what they are doing for culture,” Wellard continued.
Last year’s winner, Afropunk Festival (USA)l, has been nominated again this year alongside Tmrw. Tday (Jamaica), Genius Loci (Mexico), Hip Hop Film Festival (USA) and Quest Festival (Vietnam). Nominees for FestX’s Outstanding Social Impact award are recognised for organising campaigns, encouraging thought, promoting culture and implementing progressive harm-reduction policies.
“Quest Festival’s foundations have always in creating a free and open environment that celebrates self expression and provides opportunities for creativity. Over the years, our mission has increased to promote environmental awareness, encouraging health and wellness activities, providing opportunities and a platform for the creative arts and providing a healthy and safe festival envronment in Vietnam.”
“We have moved far beyond simply being ‘just’ a music festival and we are pleased to be getting international recognition of the importance of what Quest brings to the regional event scene,” he continued.
The next instalment of Quest Festival is set to take place on November 4th at Son Tinh Camp, 45 minutes outside of Hanoi. The three-day affair includes more than 150 artists, a range of workshops, performance artists and opportunities for connection with nature across the site, which is surrounded on three sides by the Dong Mo Lake.
