A lecture and discussion about a project and exhibition by Veronika Radulovic and moderated by Do Tuong Linh.

Veronika Radulovic will give a comprehensive overview about the exhibition: no war no vietnam, which took place in Berlin at the Galerie Nord/Kunstverein Tiergarten in August/September/Oktober 2018.

She will present images of 32 artists from West- and East Germany which were created in the 60’s and 70’s and works by Vietnamese Artists done in the last few years with the theme of anti Vietnam War. The illustrated lecture takes about one hour followed by a discussion, moderated by Do Tuong Linh.

About the speaker:

Veronika Radulovic first came to Hanoi in the early 1990’s to study Vietnamese lacquer Art. From 1994 to 2005 she was the first international lecturer at the Hanoi University of Fine Arts. Sponsered by DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) Working in cooperation with various institutions and museums in Germany, she served as an important link between German and Vietnamese Contemporary art, and curated several major exhibitions, including: Lacquer, Earth, Stone at the Museum für Lackkunst Münster, Germany (sponsored by BASF, 1995); the Gap Vietnam Project at the House of the World Culture Berlin (1998/99); the project Ryllega Berlin at the Volksbühne Berlin (2008); and the exhibition at the ifa gallery Berlin (Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen) Connect: Kunstszene Vietnam (2009/2010).

In 2006, she published her book: Sicherheitsabstand (safe distance) Vietnam. Kunst. Politik. Freundschaften. Eine Annäherung, a personal account of the development of contemporary art in Vietnam from the early 1990’s to 2006.
2010/11, in cooperation with the Goethe Institut Hanoi and with the support from the Berlin Senate, she initiated and conducted with Andreas Schmid a Open Academy in Hanoi, Hue and Ho Chi Minh City. Due to her many years of teaching and her extensive activities in Hanoi and Vietnam, Veronika Radulovic is considered one of the most important pioneers in the development of the contemporary art scene in Vietnam. Currently she is working with Annette Bhagwati on a publication about four Vietnamese pioneers of contemporary Art.
