From the organizer:

“Trung du” (The midland) is the name of the exhibition presenting a variety of styles and subjects (still lifes, landscapes, emotions, artist’s reflections…) of 04 artists from the region, our country’s origin. We can feel the freshness of life, the emotional states portrayed by the authors through their own creative perspectives and through how they raise the questions.

Hoa cuc (Daisy) by Nguyen Quang Hung

Nguyen Quang Hung is young, witty and friendly, his paintings are defined by distinct emotions, familiar objects such as vases, jars, flowers, fruits… shown through a highly decorative, expressive style, with brushstrokes that are strong, decisive, liberating yet easy, bold and light, rushed and relaxed, creating a multi-dimensional feel with a vibrant palette.

Nang tren canh dong (Sunshine on the Field) by Le Pham Hien

Le Pham Hien brings us traditional ceramic works from his hometown, simple yet sophisticated. Besides those are the canvas portraying moments of soulfulness, reflecting social life, people, landscapes through a existential approach, creating a multi-dimensional reflection space for the audience. His paintings are romantic and lyrical, each work is a story with its own identity, its own life with beauty and reality delicately intertwined, with poetic brushstrokes. His oil paintings, seemingly unable to contain the immense ideas, overflowed onto the ceramics, with images transformed from rough & raw into beautiful, endearing yet no less majestic.

Trong vuon xuan (In the Spring Garden) by Khong Do Duy

Presenting artworks with aesthetic vibes achieved by treating the painting surface creating many unique layers, unconstrained composition, the artist expressed in his works the search for changes in the composition, the discovery, the fascinating adventures with a rich sense of colors, conveying lyricism gently touching the audience’s hearts, creating a sensation amidst shapes and colors blooming, an intertwined, overflowing collision of lines and surfaces, of forms and shapes, of the hidden and the multidimensional, “purely Khong Duy”.

Binh yen (Peace) by Duong Ha

In contrast to the bursting colors, we will find calmness when seeing the small, focused, lively and vivid works, hidden in which are life philosophy, thoughts on life, and emotions portrayed with a touch of languor. Vibrant blues are predominant yet harmoniously selected in these paintings. Through personal sensitivity, the artist hid herself in a world of calm, peaceful and pure colors that are ever closer to reality. Duong Ha wants to convey it all to the public, and the thoughts and emotions to us.

With 44 works of oil paintings, ceramics, and the effort in creativity of the 4 artists, Nguyen Quang Hung, Le Pham Hien, Duong Ha, Khong Do Duy together contribute to this exhibition to bring to art enthusiasts an exciting experience. This is also an important milestone for the development of “Trung du”.
