To best serve our Veterans and heal the wound of the war, we must understand that their life, values, and beliefs have been impacted by their military experience. Dance/Movement Therapy (DMT) is a well suited modality to address the body-based physical, cognitive, social, and emotional symptoms affecting our Veterans. Dance is the mother of Art. In Dance, there are elements of poem, music, drama, or color and all these Art forms will be applied in a healing process.
In this workshop, we will introduce Dance/Movement Therapy approach accompanied by music for veterans living with cancer/Orange Agent. We will share some music and traditional dance, will ground in present moment experiences to foster their sense of connectedness, to heal the pain they are suffering from the war and illness, to find meaning again in their life. They are the reason for our peace today.
This will be first Music and Dance/Movement Therapy workshop for Vietnamese veterans, preparing for our longer DMT project for veterans across Vietnam.
