COURSE DETAILS:

1. Target students:

• FILMMAKERS (Film Director/DOP/Film Editor)
• FILM CRITIC & THEORIST – FILM REVIEWER
• CINEPHILE

2. Objective:

Help students improve aesthetic knowledge in enjoying & creating cinema works.

– Help FILMMAKERS build for themselves a multi-dimensional thinking system: theory & practice, in order to improve the artistic quality of their works.

– Help FILM CRITICS, FILM REVIEWERS to write true ‘cinematic’ reviews (FORMAT/STYLE) and not be constrained by the ‘literary’ writing style (focused on the IDEOLOGICAL CONTENT OF THE WORK).

– Help CINEPHILE to ‘read’ in depth any cinematic work, from commercial to artistic movies.

4. Syllabus:

“There are three movies in a cinema work: One on the paper, one in the camera and one on the editing table.”

FILM READING consists of 11 lessions divided into 17 3-hour sessions.

ABOUT THE LECTURE:

Film director Le Hai Nam graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Film directing from Hanoi Academy of Theater and Cinema, and a master’s degree in Film Critics from University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University – Hanoi.

He has worked in film industry as well as film training for many years. He is currently the founder and principal instructor in the filmmaking course MAKE FILMS. NOT WAR.

Believing that studying art must always start from the basic rules and principles before attempting to break through or create your own trademark, and especially a multi-dimensional perspective: from the inside out and vice versa, and always start from human psychology to systems of theory and practice.
