Residuals from textile manufacturing and dyeing processes of mass-produced clothing are one of the most toxic industrial products that filter into our oceans. By supporting local and artisanal products dyed with natural dyes, we also support the notion that the fashion industry doesn’t have to cost the planet!
This workshop, led by artisan Sầm Thị Tình, is an introduction to the natural dye kerria lacca (pink) using the traditional shibori technique.
You are invited to bring your own items of clothing or materials to dye during the workshop (cotton, linen or silk and white or cream-colored). There will also be materials available for you to buy if you don’t bring your own.
