From the organizer:
The upcoming evening will feature a variety of solo and group performances, each showcasing a unique journey. These journeys may be personal, delving into themes such as internal conflict, self-discovery, or nostalgia. They may also be collective, exploring the fight for justice and equity in our society, or posing philosophical questions about the complexities of the human mind.
Program 1: DRAGON: Inner dragon we all have inside of us
Dancers: The Lyricists
Duration: 8 minutes
Within all of us, the core of our being is beautifully unique requiring the awakening of one’s inner dragon. The mystical and magical elements that create such an empowering effect of a Dragon, are the undeniable dynamic we all possess. This fictional depiction and re-creation of the lion dance, múa lân, is the respect of historical tradition fused with the embodiment of modern conception to bring the uniqueness of modern culture to life.
Program 2: NOW
Choreographer and dancer: Sébastien Ly
Live Music: Loïc Guénin
Lighting: Francoise Michel
Duration: 25 minutes
NOW is a duet for one dancer and one musician. A man is getting ready to go on a fight against the issues of a disturbed world. NOW was created out of a sense of urgency to fully embrace and tackle the pressing challenges of our globalized world.
NOW is not an effort of one person but of a collective of people wanting to speak out and be heard. It’s a gesture of protest, hope, and action, of being in the now. It is a call for response:
“C’est maintenant, c’est tout de suite, c’est NOW”
Program 3: Quỳnh Hương
Duration: 3 minutes
Artists: Alexander Tu, The Lyricists dancers
Fluidity in movements to represent the sincereness of a flower, Quynh Huong, is composed of interpretation through movement, representation of the meaning and lyrical depiction, vibrantly harmonized through the elegant voice of Singer Trinh Vinh Trinh while composing choreographic expression to bring to life the melodic sounds composed by the late great artist, Trinh Cong Son.
Program 4: Hai Thương Một Chờ (To wait is to love)
Choreographer: Mer. A. Hoàng Yến and Minh Hiền – Actors: Thế Phương and Hiểu Lăng
A dream, a wish, a desire, not just of one single girl,
But nearly all who have loved ones who go far away to pursue common ideals during that time..
To love a soldier, one must put oneself in the position of three words, two words of love, and one word of waiting…
One love of a young man far away,
One love of a girl who waits,
And the same heart-wrenching longing of both those who left and stayed.
