About artist: Linh San graduated from the Faculty of Literature and Language Education, Hanoi National University of Education in 2020. She used to work for a number of cultural and art spaces in Hanoi. Linh San’s practice spans a wide range of media, including poetry, motion pictures, and pottery. Her compositions revolve around simple everyday life with poetic and contemplative nature. Linh San’s poetry appeared on The Margins and was printed in several anthologies. Her short films have been screened at Hanoi Doclab, Goethe Institut Hanoi (2019), Prohibition Bar Saigon (2020) and Thai Nguyen University (2021).
Activities in 2020 – 2022: In 2022, following the art residency programme Solo Marathon “matter dispersal” 2022 at Á Space, Linh San had solo exhibition – “no longer holding a cloud” – the first milestone marking Linh San’s practice process in over a year, where she first experimented with ceramics, a material that required different handlings compared to her previous practice with poetry and video. She had a short film participated in the collaborative project “Ring Project #1: Metaphor about Islands” displayed at the National Museum of Indonesia (2022) within the framework of the Jakarta Biennale 2021.
HANOI GRAPEVINE’s FINEST is an annual event that honors contemporary art projects in Vietnam. The event is organized and nominated by Hanoi Grapevine and the general audience.
The event aims to honor individuals, organizations, creative art projects & activities as well as artists who are 35 or younger who have made impacts on the community in order to encourage the development of local creative arts, to promote greater communication and to further spread the influence of art and culture in the community.
In an effort to give the most comprehensive and objective view, HANOI GRAPEVINE’s FINEST always offers different formats in each edition. This year, Hanoi Grapevine’s Finest 2023 is divided into two major categories: Honouring and Recognition.
