From the organizer:
Á Space is pleased to invite you to ‘Bright the Below’, a solo show by artist Martin Constable, curated by Hà Ninh Pham. The exhibition showcases paintings, sculptures, and videos, revolving around the theme of self-destruction and the personal journey through fiction space-time.
Bright the Below is the artist’s first exhibition after nearly 10 years of living in Vietnam. The artist’s practice blends the wanderlust of science fiction culture with distinctive imagery and painting techniques. With decaying robots, shattered cockpits, surreal landscapes, and handmade objects, Martin’s art evokes a relentless and endless journey to the edge of life, a process without a clear goal, yet filled with drama and poetry.
The exhibition includes a collaboration between Martin and Jakarta-based writer Bod Edrian, who contributed content to the art book And Having Died/Dies Again, created specifically for this exhibition. This show also marks the curatorial debut of artist Hà Ninh Pham, in which he experimented a new framework to redefine the concept of the local. Most of the works were produced in 2024, shaped by a year of artistic and personal exchanges among the three collaborators.
We look forward to welcoming you to Á Space! Keep an eye on this page, as we will be sharing exciting updates about the artist and the exhibition in the coming days!
