Relaxed Performance: Thổ Địa
Session 1: 09 am & Session 2: 11 am, Sun 01 Dec 2024
Goethe Institut Hà Nội
56-58-60, Nguyễn Thái Học, Hà Nội
From the organizer:
Thổ Địa is the first theatrical production that ToLo Puppet Theatre has produced and created. Started in late 2023, the show combines lecture performance and installation art with puppetry to tell stories about the city from the past to the future. The work intertwines two narratives: a fictional journey through the City of the Future and a lecture performance presented by an architect who quits his job to work as a cultural creator in the City today.
At the same time, a relaxed performance version of the performance, catering to audiences on the autism spectrum and those interested in a different theatrical experience, is also being developed. In this version, elements of sound, lighting and stage design will be adjusted. The storytelling and presentation of the work will also be altered to create an experience that is suitable for a wide range of audience. A special demo of the relaxed performance, lasting 20 minutes, will be introduced at the Goethe Institut Hanoi on December 1, 2024.
The event is the result of the Inclusion Award category, selected by the Goethe Institute Hanoi and Hanoi Grapevine’s Finest. The event is organised to gather feedback from the community of people with autism spectrum disorder and different theatre experiences in order to develop this kind of Relaxation Theatre in the future.
The work was created and developed by artists Linh Valerie Pham, Tran Kim Ngoc, Nguyen Vu Hai, Nguyen Khanh Linh, Huyen M. Hoang, La Thanh Ha, Dao Tung, Tran Thao Mien, Pham Minh Anh and produced by ToLo Puppet Theater. The performance uses the work The memorial (from the Tree Altar series) by artist Tran Thao Mien.
