About project: A site-responsive art project initiated by Linh Lê, with generous support and exciting collaborations with various practitioners in Ho Chi Minh City, “Đo Đạc” focuses on Thủ Thiêm and its geography, history and stories. Borrowing the name of a nearby no-signboard market, “Đo Đạc” or “measuring” suggests an act that helps us make sense of a shape, size, directions, and specific borders or boundaries. This community-oriented, collective project hopes to understand, connect and preserve the heritage, wisdom, memories Thủ Thiêm Peninsula, which used to be considered the “other side” of the bustling and glamorous Saigon, that are fading in the face of urban redevelopment.

The project began in July 2024 with a series of events, workshops, talks and discussions taking place at the Thủ Thiêm Peninsula and other locations in the city. Activities included the talk “Communal Houses in Cities – Landscapes of constant transformation” co-organised with Nguyen Art Foundation; the “Đo Đạc Performance Art Week” with a workshop led by the performance art collective The Appendix, featuring artists Vũ Đức Toàn, Nguyễn Huy An and Ngô Thành Bắc; and “A performance-event” with the participation of Bùi Ánh, Cam Xanh, Lập Xuân, and Tố K Du.

HANOI GRAPEVINE’s FINEST is an annual event that honors contemporary art projects in Vietnam. The event is organized and nominated by Hanoi Grapevine and the general audience.

Entering its 6th year, Hanoi Grapevine’s Finest aims to go beyond an annual honouring event to become a contemporary archive of Vietnam’s art and cultural landscape, as well as a foundational platform to promote interdisciplinary collaborations both domestically and internationally, towards an open, fair, and transparent ecosystem.

This year, Hanoi Grapevine’s Finest 2024-2025 is divided into two major categories: Honouring and Recognition. Nominations are selected based on sets of criteria that aim to highlight the developmental significance and scale of impact, including activity level, community impact, creativity, organisational capability and artistic quality.
