Fresh-faced Organisers 2024-2025: Galerie BAO
GALERIE BAO
Founded in: 2023
Galerie BAO was founded in Paris by Lê Thiên Bảo – a Vietnamese curator known for her long-term commitment to Southeast Asian contemporary art, with the aim to connect artists with art collections and art enthusiasts around the world. It is the only gallery in Paris specialising in Southeast Asian contemporary practices, invested in and managed by a Vietnamese individual.
Galerie BAO has collaborated with collections and organisations such as POUSH (Aubervilliers), The Outpost (Hanoi), Nguyễn Art Foundation (HCMC), Kadist Foundation (San Francisco / Paris), MUSEION (Bolzano), Han Nefkens Foundation (Madrid), MASS MoCA (Massachusetts), among many others. Galerie BAO consistently explores cultural and creative practices related to complex histories and identities, reimagining traditions and challenging dominant ideologies.
In 2024, Galerie BAO organised and curated the exhibitions “Fugitive Zone” by Hà Ninh Phạm, “Untamed Souls” by Nguyễn Duy Mạnh and Trương Công Tùng, as well as “Blue Filaments” by Lêna Bùi in Paris. In collaboration with The Outpost Art Organisation, the gallery presented the ceramic series “Wandering Souls – Lost Spirits” by Nguyễn Duy Mạnh in the exhibition “Becoming Alice: Through the metal tunnel” in Hanoi; co-organised with Wiking Salon the duo exhibition “Entrusting to Emptiness” by Tôn Thất Minh Nhật and Tuyền Nguyễn in HCMC; and the exhibition “The Disoriented Garden… A Breath of Dream” by Trương Công Tùng in Italy.

HANOI GRAPEVINE’s FINEST is an annual event that honors contemporary art projects in Vietnam. The event is organized and nominated by Hanoi Grapevine and the general audience.
Entering its 6th year, Hanoi Grapevine’s Finest aims to go beyond an annual honouring event to become a contemporary archive of Vietnam’s art and cultural landscape, as well as a foundational platform to promote interdisciplinary collaborations both domestically and internationally, towards an open, fair, and transparent ecosystem.
This year, Hanoi Grapevine’s Finest 2024-2025 is divided into two major categories: Honouring and Recognition. Nominations are selected based on sets of criteria that aim to highlight the developmental significance and scale of impact, including activity level, community impact, creativity, organisational capability and artistic quality.
