Fresh-faced Organisers 2024-2025: Gian Giữa

Founded in: 2022

Founded in 2022, Gian Giữa continues the legacy of Adhoc Housing Architecture, with a focus on studying interstitial spaces in urban environments. After the workshop “KTT Kim Liên” (lit. Kim Liên Residential Complex) and the exhibition “Little Worlds” in 2023, their team recognised that everyday life issues as well as architectural and urban challenges needed more space for discussion and research. The name “Gian Giữa” (lit. the middle room) came to be, serving as a shared space for discussions on architecture and urban matters, with members including architects Nguyễn Hà Thắng, Nguyễn Bá Dũng, Nguyễn Lê Minh Nhựt, Nguyễn Mạnh Tuấn and Lê Đức.

In 2024, Gian Giữa organised the workshop “Childhood weaving machine” and opened the related showcase at The Outpost Art Organisation, as well as seminars such as “Cư xử với không gian trong điện ảnh” (lit. Interacting with Space in Cinema) with film director Phạm Ngọc Lân and “Chơi kiến trúc chơi” (Playing with Architecture) with architect Phạm Kiên. As part of the “Great Exhibition at Hanoi Children’s Palace: Nostalgia for the Future” at the Hanoi Festival of Creative Design 2024, Gian Giữa proposed a pavilion titled “Hành lang Thơ ngây” (Corridor of Innocence), which became one of the standout works at Hanoi Children’s Palace.

HANOI GRAPEVINE’s FINEST is an annual event that honors contemporary art projects in Vietnam. The event is organized and nominated by Hanoi Grapevine and the general audience.

Entering its 6th year, Hanoi Grapevine’s Finest aims to go beyond an annual honouring event to become a contemporary archive of Vietnam’s art and cultural landscape, as well as a foundational platform to promote interdisciplinary collaborations both domestically and internationally, towards an open, fair, and transparent ecosystem.

This year, Hanoi Grapevine’s Finest 2024-2025 is divided into two major categories: Honouring and Recognition. Nominations are selected based on sets of criteria that aim to highlight the developmental significance and scale of impact, including activity level, community impact, creativity, organisational capability and artistic quality.
