Fresh-faced Organisers 2024-2025: Reading Room

Reading Room is an art library in HCMC dedicated to collecting and providing access to books and related printed materials on contemporary art. Reading Room is built on the personal collection of its founder Nguyễn Hoàng Long, with 600 diverse titles and publications (art books, monographs, magazines, catalogues and other printed ephemera on various disciplines), primarily from international sources. With the aim to increase access to documents, support learning/research activities and foster a space for dialogue among the community, Reading Room is open to the public free of charge and regularly hosts film screenings in addition to photobook and art book showcases.

Its notable activities in 2024 include the photo book exhibition “Read with us #10: Appropriating the archive”, the Travelling Reading Space at Trần Đại Nghĩa High School, the introduction of 38 book titles at Zinner’s Fair with 3Năm Library, and participating in the 9th Singapore International Photography Festival.

HANOI GRAPEVINE’s FINEST is an annual event that honors contemporary art projects in Vietnam. The event is organized and nominated by Hanoi Grapevine and the general audience.

Entering its 6th year, Hanoi Grapevine’s Finest aims to go beyond an annual honouring event to become a contemporary archive of Vietnam’s art and cultural landscape, as well as a foundational platform to promote interdisciplinary collaborations both domestically and internationally, towards an open, fair, and transparent ecosystem.

This year, Hanoi Grapevine’s Finest 2024-2025 is divided into two major categories: Honouring and Recognition. Nominations are selected based on sets of criteria that aim to highlight the developmental significance and scale of impact, including activity level, community impact, creativity, organisational capability and artistic quality.
