TồLô Puppet Theatre is an independent theatre founded in 2023 in Hanoi by Linh Valerie Phạm, Trần Kim Ngọc and Pingu to produce original performances using puppetry and object theatre, researching and archiving traditional puppetry practices, as well as encouraging experimentation and expansion of the concept of puppetry and object theatre.

In 2024, TồLô Puppet Theatre participated in an residency programme at Treasure Hill Artist Village (Taiwan), in collaboration with the Puppetry Art Center of Taipei. The group took part in the group exhibition “Creation of Mother Goddess” at Treasure Hill Artist Village, performed at the Puppetry Art Center of Taipei, and created the interactive installation Giant Tree of Tiny Scraps at Lize Puppet Art Colony (Yilan) and The Altar at National Taiwan University. This work later became part of the permanent collection at the Puppetry Art Center of Taipei.

In Vietnam, the performance “Thổ Địa” was introduced through a theatre and performance workshop organised by ISTA Global at TAPS Hanoi before its official premiere at Pesta Boneka #9 – International Puppetry Festival (Jogjakarta, Indonesia), followed by Hanoi Festival of Creative Design, APAC Festival (UNIS Hanoi), Bangkok International Performing Arts Meeting (BIPAM), and a ‘relaxed performance’ of the show at Goethe Institute Hanoi.

HANOI GRAPEVINE’s FINEST is an annual event that honors contemporary art projects in Vietnam. The event is organized and nominated by Hanoi Grapevine and the general audience.

Entering its 6th year, Hanoi Grapevine’s Finest aims to go beyond an annual honouring event to become a contemporary archive of Vietnam’s art and cultural landscape, as well as a foundational platform to promote interdisciplinary collaborations both domestically and internationally, towards an open, fair, and transparent ecosystem.

This year, Hanoi Grapevine’s Finest 2024-2025 is divided into two major categories: Honouring and Recognition. Nominations are selected based on sets of criteria that aim to highlight the developmental significance and scale of impact, including activity level, community impact, creativity, organisational capability and artistic quality.
