Fresh-faced Organisers 2024-2025: Trường làng trong phố

Trường Làng Trong Phố was established in 2023 with the goal of bringing traditional craft villages closer to urban life through engaging, experiential and creative activities. Trường Làng Trong Phố is not simply an event organiser, but also a model for connecting and creatively applying sustainable cultural practices, fostering community engagement through educational and experiential activities, promoting interdisciplinarity, and encouraging the fusion of traditional crafts with modern approaches.

In 2024, the project launched the workshop series “Chân Cỏ Điểm Hoa” on the craft of grass weaving in Lưu Thượng Village (Phú Xuyên); “Ngũ Chỉ Hoàng Kim” on the art of embroidery for royal robes in Đông Cứu Village (Thường Tín); and “Sao Sáng Đèn Xưa” on the craft of making traditional Mid-Autumn Festival toys in Đàn Viên Village (Thanh Oai). Additionally, the project organised an experiential tour “Chuyện Rối Nối Chuyện Làng” where participants explored the water puppetry craft village of Đào Thục. The project also carried out the event “Phong Vị Kinh Kỳ”, which included a video talk series with artisans and a photo collection from the village of Ước Lễ.

HANOI GRAPEVINE’s FINEST is an annual event that honors contemporary art projects in Vietnam. The event is organized and nominated by Hanoi Grapevine and the general audience.

Entering its 6th year, Hanoi Grapevine’s Finest aims to go beyond an annual honouring event to become a contemporary archive of Vietnam’s art and cultural landscape, as well as a foundational platform to promote interdisciplinary collaborations both domestically and internationally, towards an open, fair, and transparent ecosystem.

This year, Hanoi Grapevine’s Finest 2024-2025 is divided into two major categories: Honouring and Recognition. Nominations are selected based on sets of criteria that aim to highlight the developmental significance and scale of impact, including activity level, community impact, creativity, organisational capability and artistic quality.
