TÂM HUỲNH

Year of birth: 1993

Tâm Huỳnh graduated from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University (France) with a degree in arts and media and is an independent curator and art advisor. He views art as a form of language, a space where personal experience, cultural history and social undercurrents intersect, engage in dialogue, and open up new possibilities for how we perceive the world today. Tâm Huỳnh is currently the director of Gate Gate Gallery in Hanoi, which is dedicated to exploring and fostering dialogue within contemporary art both in Vietnam and internationally.

In 2024, Tâm Huỳnh curated several exhibitions at Gate Gate Gallery, including the group exhibition “Moon River” featuring multimedia and mixed-material works by artists Phạm Thị Hồng Sâm, Hà Huy Mười, Hà Huy Hiệp, Laurent Judge, Lê Văn Trọng, Jo Ngô, and Đào Huy Hùng; and the exhibition “Perhaps I’ll See You Tomorrow” showcasing works by Vũ Mạnh Linh and Võ Huỳnh Phú.

Tâm Huỳnh also served as the art advisor for the H.U.E exhibition (Hope Unfolds through Education) – an art auction organised in collaboration with Saigon Children’s Charity, New World Hotel, Limitless Contemporary, and HCMC University of Fine Arts to raise funds for scholarships.

HANOI GRAPEVINE’s FINEST is an annual event that honors contemporary art projects in Vietnam. The event is organized and nominated by Hanoi Grapevine and the general audience.

Entering its 6th year, Hanoi Grapevine’s Finest aims to go beyond an annual honouring event to become a contemporary archive of Vietnam’s art and cultural landscape, as well as a foundational platform to promote interdisciplinary collaborations both domestically and internationally, towards an open, fair, and transparent ecosystem.

This year, Hanoi Grapevine’s Finest 2024-2025 is divided into two major categories: Honouring and Recognition. Nominations are selected based on sets of criteria that aim to highlight the developmental significance and scale of impact, including activity level, community impact, creativity, organisational capability and artistic quality.
