Finest Organisers 2024-2025: Hiếu Văn Ngư
HIẾU VĂN NGƯ
Founded in: 2020
Hiếu Văn Ngư is a group focused on art and cultural research, application and creation, established in 2020 in HCMC. The group aims to inspire young audiences with the beauty of Vietnamese art through cultural and heritage projects.
In 2024, Hiếu Văn Ngư focused on three key activities, one of which is promoting hát bội (a form of traditional Vietnamese opera) to young audiences and the international community through content that facilitates appreciation for the art on social media, as well as in-depth workshops at schools. Hiếu Văn Ngư also collaborates with HCMC Hát Bội Art Theatre to carry out a series of programs titled “Understanding Hát Bội”, including the talk show “Ca Biện Phấn Hành”, the workshop “Hát Bội 101”, and performances such as “Tư nguyên niệm tổ”, “Cân quắc anh hùng”, “Bảo kính cảnh giới” and “Đêm hồi chầu”. The project has also brought hát bội to the Asian Young Theatre Festival (AYTF) in Thailand, contributing to regional cultural exchange and positioning hát bội as a traditional art form rigorously adapting to the modern era.
Hiếu Văn Ngư also launched Nhã Tập Hiên – a space dedicated to the community of intellectuals as well as art and culture enthusiasts. This serves as an event space for talkshows, workshops and performances with topics ranging from history, philosophy, science, strategy, to refined pastimes and practices rooted in Asian culture.
Additionally, drawing from studied and archived heritage materials, Hiếu Văn Ngư produces and develops heritage-inspired products such as bandanas, T-shirts, decorative scrolls focusing on the art of hát bội, as well as Asian-style modern garments.

Entering its 6th year, Hanoi Grapevine’s Finest aims to go beyond an annual honouring event to become a contemporary archive of Vietnam’s art and cultural landscape, as well as a foundational platform to promote interdisciplinary collaborations both domestically and internationally, towards an open, fair, and transparent ecosystem.
This year, Hanoi Grapevine’s Finest 2024-2025 is divided into two major categories: Honouring and Recognition.
