Finest Organisers 2024-2025: Sóng Mây Contemporary Art Museum
SÓNG MÂY CONTEMPORARY ART MUSEUM
Founded in: 2017
Sóng Mây Contemporary Art Museum (SMCAM) is a project established in 2017 in Hanoi by artist and curator Vũ Hồng Nguyên, with the goal of creating a high-quality art destination focused on education, fostering enthusiasm for arts and aesthetics among young people in Vietnam. SMCAM is not only a museum project but also provides support and accompanies artists in realising their ideas, with a strong emphasis on creating aesthetically captivating art spaces tailored to each individual artist.
In 2024, the project collaborated with contemporary Vietnamese artists to host a number of solo exhibitions, including “Nguyện” by artist Nguyễn Quân, “Movement in Silence” by Japanese artist Katsumi Mukai, “Longing for the Mountains” by sculptor Lê Lạng Lương, and “Genesis” by sculptor Hoàng Mai Thiệp.
HANOI GRAPEVINE’s FINEST is an annual event that honors contemporary art projects in Vietnam. The event is organized and nominated by Hanoi Grapevine and the general audience.
Entering its 6th year, Hanoi Grapevine’s Finest aims to go beyond an annual honouring event to become a contemporary archive of Vietnam’s art and cultural landscape, as well as a foundational platform to promote interdisciplinary collaborations both domestically and internationally, towards an open, fair, and transparent ecosystem.
This year, Hanoi Grapevine’s Finest 2024-2025 is divided into two major categories: Honouring and Recognition. Nominations are selected based on sets of criteria that aim to highlight the developmental significance and scale of impact, including activity level, community impact, creativity, organisational capability and artistic quality.
