Ồ Ạt Festival 2025 | Open Call
Deadline for submission: 05 pm (GMT+7), 31 May 2025
Festival date: July 2025, HCMC
From the organizer:
Ồ Ạt is an artist-initiated contemporary art festival held annually in Vietnam. It aims to create new connections between artists, audiences, and communities through a diverse range of activities, including visual art exhibitions, movement, performance art, contemporary dance, artist-in-residence programs, and initiatives that foster and support art community learning and practices.
Following the 2024 theme “OUTSIDER” which explored the question of not belonging and marginality, this year’s theme, OUTSIDE-IN, invites a new inquiry: What happens when the outside comes in? When boundaries are no longer absolute? When intrusion becomes part of the structure itself?
We invite artists to apply to one or both of the following programs. Each application will be considered independently.
Program #1: Artwork submission
Ồ Ạt is looking for and prioritizing new, original works (preferably not yet exhibited, showcased, or performed) that respond to the theme OUTSIDE-IN, using—but not limited to—the following mediums:
– Visual/fine art works (painting, photography, sculpture, installation, mixed media)
– Performance art (theater, dance, movement)
– Sound art / experimental music
– Short films, video art, interactive or multimedia works
Required application materials:
+ Personal information (Name, nationality, contact details)
+ Artist statement (max. 300 words)
+ Work proposal: Description of the proposed work (max. 500 words): How the work connects to the theme “OUTSIDE-IN”;
+ Technical and installation requirements (if any).
+ CV / Artist bio
Program #2: Artists in residency
Residency Theme: Modern Totem
Modern Totem is a residency program for artists within the framework of Ồ Ạt Festival, launched in its inaugural edition (2024) and continuing into the second edition (2025).
