Old Vines 2024-2025: European – Vietnamese Documentary Film Festival
EUROPEAN – VIETNAMESE DOCUMENTARY FILM FESTIVAL
About project: European – Vietnamese Documentary Film Festival is an annual cultural event, first held in 2009. It is organised by the National Documentary and Scientific Film Studio (under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) in collaboration with the European Union National Institutes for Culture and Embassies (EUNIC).
The event is part of EUNIC’s activities in Hanoi, aiming to solidify the position of documentary film as an independent cinematic genre with its unique expression, techniques and artistic thinking. Each screening features two prominent documentaries, one from Vietnam and one from a European country.
Over the course of 14 editions, the festival has contributed to the cinematic landscape of Vietnam and opened up many opportunities for international exchanges and networking between documentary filmmakers. In 2024, the festival introduced 22 films to the audience, including 13 from Vietnam and 09 from European countries.

HANOI GRAPEVINE’s FINEST is an annual event that honors contemporary art projects in Vietnam. The event is organized and nominated by Hanoi Grapevine and the general audience.
Entering its 6th year, Hanoi Grapevine’s Finest aims to go beyond an annual honouring event to become a contemporary archive of Vietnam’s art and cultural landscape, as well as a foundational platform to promote interdisciplinary collaborations both domestically and internationally, towards an open, fair, and transparent ecosystem.
This year, Hanoi Grapevine’s Finest 2024-2025 is divided into two major categories: Honouring and Recognition. Nominations are selected based on sets of criteria that aim to highlight the developmental significance and scale of impact, including activity level, community impact, creativity, organisational capability and artistic quality.
