JAPANESE FILM FESTIVAL IN VIETNAM

About project: Japanese Film Festival is an annual cultural event organised by the Japan Foundation with the aim of bringing Japanese cinema closer to audiences around the world.

After 15 annual editions in Vietnam, the festival returned in 2024 with 11 hit films, more than 60 screenings, and 02 Q&A sessions with director Yamashita Nobuhiro (director of “Let’s Go Karaoke!”) and the local cinephile community, along with a series of mini-games and activities held throughout the last two months of the year in HCMC, Hanoi, Da Nang, and Hai Phong.

The 2024 edition of the festival continued to offer an online version, which was first introduced during the Covid-19 pandemic, presenting over 40 Japanese films to audiences in Vietnam and internationally. As part of the programme, two special screenings were held in Hanoi, featuring a discussion with the producer of “The Father of the Milky Way Railroad”, and a performance by the Kiki House of Sun Vietnam.

HANOI GRAPEVINE’s FINEST is an annual event that honors contemporary art projects in Vietnam. The event is organized and nominated by Hanoi Grapevine and the general audience.

Entering its 6th year, Hanoi Grapevine’s Finest aims to go beyond an annual honouring event to become a contemporary archive of Vietnam’s art and cultural landscape, as well as a foundational platform to promote interdisciplinary collaborations both domestically and internationally, towards an open, fair, and transparent ecosystem.

This year, Hanoi Grapevine’s Finest 2024-2025 is divided into two major categories: Honouring and Recognition. Nominations are selected based on sets of criteria that aim to highlight the developmental significance and scale of impact, including activity level, community impact, creativity, organisational capability and artistic quality.
