Old Vines 2024-2025: Month of Arts Practice
MONTH OF ARTS PRACTICE
About project: Month of Arts Practice (MAP) is a project of Heritage Art Space, dedicated to supporting the development of contemporary art through creating spaces for experimental art, international exchange, and public outreach.
Launched by artist Trần Trọng Vũ in 2015, MAP is organised annually in Hanoi, featuring a three-month creative residency and exhibition model and gathering artists, curators, and multidisciplinary cultural practitioners from Vietnam and around the world. The yearly themes of MAP are drawn from abstract philosophical concepts linked to real-life societal contexts.
Starting in 2023, MAP has evolved into an art laboratory for “Mobility”, collaborating with Professor Ingo Vetter from Bremen University of Arts and operating simultaneously in both Hanoi and Bremen. Building on this theme, MAP 2024 enters its second phase titled “Going Places, Moving Things” to put new approaches of the previous phase to the real locations and living circumstances.
The artists participating in person in Vietnam included Higashikata Yuhei, Benjamin Sunarjo, Paulius Šliaupa, Laima Matuzonytė, Ngô Đình Bảo Châu, Nguyễn Vũ Hải, A Sông, ba-bau AIR, guest curator Moon-Seok Yi. The group of art students and artists participating in Bremen consists of Jeroen Jacobs, Alexander Noah, Felix Dreesen, Kayle Brandon, Gunnar Zwisele, Soobeen Woo, Siegfried Bank, and Florian Witt.

HANOI GRAPEVINE’s FINEST is an annual event that honors contemporary art projects in Vietnam. The event is organized and nominated by Hanoi Grapevine and the general audience.
Entering its 6th year, Hanoi Grapevine’s Finest aims to go beyond an annual honouring event to become a contemporary archive of Vietnam’s art and cultural landscape, as well as a foundational platform to promote interdisciplinary collaborations both domestically and internationally, towards an open, fair, and transparent ecosystem.
This year, Hanoi Grapevine’s Finest 2024-2025 is divided into two major categories: Honouring and Recognition. Nominations are selected based on sets of criteria that aim to highlight the developmental significance and scale of impact, including activity level, community impact, creativity, organisational capability and artistic quality.
