Old Vines 2024-2025: Saigon Experimental
SAIGON EXPERIMENTAL
About project: Saigon Experimental is a HCMC-based initiative launched in 2019, with the aim of creating a platform dedicated to showcasing and discussing experimental short films. Initiated by two emerging artists and filmmakers, the project has since expanded to a larger, dynamic team, connecting both local and international filmmakers through its annual film screening events.
Each year, the festival presents a selection of short films – all experimental whether in narration, editing, or visual content – carefully chosen from an international pool of online submissions.
After 05 editions, Saigon Experimental has showcased over 100 works from various countries. In 2024, the 5th edition of Saigon Experimental introduced 25 short films from 14 countries, which were screened in person in HCMC.
In the same year, Saigon Experimental continued to expand its international network through screenings and exhibitions in Hong Kong, Indonesia, the UK, and many other cities in Vietnam, including Da Nang and Hoi An.

HANOI GRAPEVINE’s FINEST is an annual event that honors contemporary art projects in Vietnam. The event is organized and nominated by Hanoi Grapevine and the general audience.
Entering its 6th year, Hanoi Grapevine’s Finest aims to go beyond an annual honouring event to become a contemporary archive of Vietnam’s art and cultural landscape, as well as a foundational platform to promote interdisciplinary collaborations both domestically and internationally, towards an open, fair, and transparent ecosystem.
This year, Hanoi Grapevine’s Finest 2024-2025 is divided into two major categories: Honouring and Recognition. Nominations are selected based on sets of criteria that aim to highlight the developmental significance and scale of impact, including activity level, community impact, creativity, organisational capability and artistic quality.
