MARG1N Issue 2: “Traces” – Gathering in Hanoi
03 pm – 05 pm, Sun 15 June 2025
Matca Space for Photography
48 Ngọc Hà, Hà Nội
From the organizer:
Join us this Sunday afternoon for a laid-back get-together in Hanoi to celebrate issue 2: “Traces” by independent, print-only film magazine MARG1N. In this issue, Vietnamese and Singaporean filmmakers and writers gather to observe, remember, and reimagine cinematic derives, visual scripts, unfinished movies, and more. Across 21 contributions, the theme “traces” is explored through a wide range of interpretations, spanning beloved classic features, personal video diaries, experimental montage, and other surprises.
While Matca typically focuses on photography, we’re thrilled to host this event out of a shared passion for independent publishing and all things visual culture, archives, and transnational dialogues in Southeast Asia. Swing by for a screening of select films and videos, drinks and snacks, chat with the MARG1N team and fellow film lovers, and don’t leave without your own copy!
About MARG1N
Based in Cambodia and supported by Anti-Archive, MARG1N is an independent publication that pairs thoughtful film writing with a bold visual aesthetic. Each annual issue explores Southeast Asian cinema through a bilateral lens, pairing two countries with little shared history to imagine new connections or revive forgotten ones. Their first issue, Pirate.Lov3r.2024.mkv, focused on Khmer and Filipino views on film piracy.
