From the organizer:

Trần Thảo Miên is a Hanoi-based visual artist whose sculptural practice centres on textiles and the Vietnamese animist belief Vạn vật hữu linh—that all beings have souls. She is also the co-founder of Collective Sonson, a design collective working with craft villages across Vietnam to merge traditional techniques with sustainable, contemporary design.

Khang A Tủa is the Co-founder and Community Development Manager of Ná Nả Cooperative for Indigenous Tourism and Agriculture. Tủa is known for co-founding several sustainable development initiatives for the Hmong community in Vietnam. In 2019, he was honored as one of the Top 5 Most Inspirational Figures and one of the Top 10 Inspirational Ambassadors by the WECHOICE AWARDS.

In this Talk, Tran Thao Mien and Tuam Khaab will share about their cultural practices and work. They will talk about the beauty in the imperfect “innocence” of products created by human hands, by local communities who believe in living and creating with nature, rather than subjugating it.
