You are warmly invited to. a special screening of two short films created during the 20th Anniversary Varan Vietnam Filmmaking Workshop in Hanoi, 2024.
In “The Unseen Studio”, director Nguyễn Thiên Ân gently opens a window into an inclusive boarding school where sighted and visually impaired students learn side by side. Through the story of twin brothers Phát and Nhân and their secret music studio tucked away in a dormitory, the film evokes the dreams, innocence, and vibrant emotional world of adolescence.
“Mr. Toàn”, directed by Nguyễn Hồ Bảo Nghi, takes viewers on a charming journey into a bustling neighborhood in the heart of Hanoi. Through the dedicated daily work of “comrade” Toàn, we glimpse both the humorous and poetic layers of urban life, interwoven with his quiet longing for love and the hazy line between dreams and reality.
The screening will feature the presence of the filmmakers from Varan Vietnam. All proceeds – after covering basic event costs – will be donated to support Mr. Toàn’s family with his ongoing medical treatment.
