Dr. Olsen will give a lecture about UB Art Galleries, with a review of the various contemporary exhibitions the galleries have organized over the last five years.
The University at Buffalo is known for their dedication to works that address current contemporary art practices and issues. Also, UB is dedicated to working with emerging, mid-career and under recognized artists by provides them with the opportunity for their work to be critically analyzed and documented in a catalog publication. With each exhibition UB brings the artist to the University to provide public lectures as well as studio visits with graduate students in the MFA Program.
The Lightwell Gallery at the Center for the Arts provides a unique space (900 square feet with a 35 foot ceiling) for creating site-specific installations that challenge the artists to experiment with new materials on an unprecedented scale. And lastly, UB participate in collaborative projects that encourage both international and interdisciplinary exhibitions that are frequently accompanied by workshops or an academic conference.
