Roland Tchakounté cùng hai người bạn tài năng của anh đã chơi nhạc blues ở L’Espace vào tối Thứ bảy.
Liệu đã bao giờ một cây ghita điện có thể khiến bạn phấn khích đến vậy?
Với thứ nhạc đó làm sao bạn có thể ngồi yên được chứ? Thật không ngạc nhiên gì khi nó là thứ nhạc được người Châu Phi (có thể là ở Cộng hoà Ca-mơ-run) ưa chuộng.
Một đêm tuyệt vời… người tôi cũng như đang muốn đung đưa cùng điệu nhạc… khi tôi nghe đĩa CD ở nhà.

What a great, uniquely Hanoi, night. The blues travelling from Africa to Mississippi and back again via Hanoi under the deft hands of the trio. I’ve never heard John Lee Hooker’s, Crawling Kingsnake, sound so dangerous. The unsung hero was the percussionist who was there for every beat, accent and roll, understated but driving everything along while Roland and the brilliant guitarist were given the credits.
Their set kept its momentum by the skilful intermingling of American blues and African moods. Three musicians at times sounding like they were playing to an intimate audience of 1 and at others making enough rolling blues thunder to make the Red River tidal. Brilliant audience too who were rewarded with 3 encores (or was it 4?) for their applause, enthusiasm and standing ovations. Inspiring.
What is this supposed to be?
not a review, not a critic, not anything it seems. 3 sentences that tell us nothing about the concert. No mention of the fact that it was unendurably boring, that the electric guitarist never stopped solo-ing (which of course has no emotional value), that the songs were all cliched…
Try writing an article with “your whole being”, or at least a whole paragraph.
Pfffffffffffff….certainly NOT one of the best blues performances I have seen…not even close! Roland Tchakounte has absolutely NO stage presence and his guitar playing was mediocre at best. He did belt out some pretty decent vocals, but all his songs had the same sound. The guitar player WAS very good, thanks to him, I didn’t leave the concert hall. The drummer, hmmm…I’m not sure, as I was barely able to hear him.
