manzi is proud to bring you a special music night entitled ‘Keri and Friends’
‘Keri and Friends’ is the first ever concert in Hanoi for oboe music. The concert features Dr. Keri E. Mc Carthy from the U.S.A and her oboist friends in Hanoi who are from the Vietnam National Academy of Music, the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra, and the Vietnam National Opera Ballet.

Info about Dr. Keri E. McCarthy
Dr. Keri E. McCarthy currently teaches as Associate Professor of Oboe and Music History at Washington State University. In 2013 she helped to found the Light through Music project, bringing double reed instruments (oboe and bassoon) and instruction to music centers in Myanmar. In 2011, she completed a Fulbright award in Bangkok, Thailand, researching connections between Thai traditional and contemporary musics, and commissioning Thai and Malaysian composers, and performing new works with professional oboists in the Philippines, Thailand, and Singapore. She also completed a 2008 solo tour of Southeast Asia, premiering works by composers from Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia.
Keri currently performs as co-principle oboist of the Washington-Idaho Symphony and in the Solstice Wind Quintet. She has held oboe and English horn positions with the Salaya and Evansville Philharmonics and the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra. She has performed with the New Haven, Binghamton, Syracuse, Spokane and Louisville Symphonies, and the Nashville and Indianapolis Chamber Orchestras.
Dr. McCarthy completed her doctorate in Music Literature and Performance at Indiana University under the tutelage of Linda Strommen, Roger Roe, and Ted Baskin, having previously completed her Masters degree with Ronald Roseman at the Yale School of Music, and a Bachelors degree at Ithaca College.
