From The Onion Cellar:

You are invited to the screening of “The Taste of Tea”. “The Taste of Tea tells a charming story of an unconventional Japanese family, with characters as likeable as they are eccentric”.

THE TASTE OF TEA (2004)
143′ / Dir – Katsuhito Ishii

“The Taste of Tea tells a charming story of an unconventional Japenese family, with characters as likeable as they are eccentric”

“Nobuo is a hypnotherapist. His son Hajime has a rough time with girls and puberty.

Yoshiko refuses to be an average housewife, and works on animated film projects at home. She uses assistance from Grandfather Akira, an eccentric old man who is a former animator and occasional model.

Eight year old Sachiko periodically sees a silent, giant-sized double of herself which mimics or benignly watches her.

Uncle Ayano is a record producer who comes for a visit. He engages in inward reflection and recounts a childhood experience [which involved a ghost with sh*t on his head]”

“As quirky as it is brilliant, The Taste of Tea reminds the viewer of the beauty of life, family, and the awkward little moments we all endure, but never really truly appreciate till afterwards”

Language: Japanese, with English subtitles
