From Nha San Collective:

Queer Forever!, Nhà Sàn Collective and Marcus Mạnh Cường Vũ are pleased to invite you to see four short films in our September’s program.

At the end of 2013, when Queer Forever! Festival took place the first time, Marcus curated a LGBTIQ documentary film program called “YxineFF loves Queer Forever”. The screening received great responds from Hanoi’s audience. This time, Marcus is introducing four new fiction short films by young Vietnamese and Vietnamese American filmmakers, showing their personal, daring perspectives on LGBTIQ world.

We are thrilled and happy that Huỳnh Nguyễn Đăng Khoa, film director-cum-actor of “Jack’d” (and also of famous “My best gay friends”) will fly from Sài Gòn to Hà nội to be with us to do the Q&A. Of course, Marcus will be here to talk, too.

Hope to see you at the event, to watch films, to find our own world in the filmmakers’ cinematic world, and to talk about films together.

September’s four films:

“Mùi” (2014), 23 min, by Lê Bảo (Việt Nam)
The film tells story of Mùi and her friend – two among pregnant girls living together in an apocalyptic looking house alongside a river.

“Talking to my Mother” (2014), 17 min, by Leon Lê (USA)
An young Asian American is struggling between his own happiness and responsibilities of the only son of his mother – the burden of tradition he thinks he has to bear.

“The lover” (2012), 12 min, by Chu Trần Minh Đức (Việt Nam)
Words about one’s secret life spoken softly by a person who use the word “I” but whose face we cannot see clearly, seem to bring us into an intimate relationship via telephone. Do we want to know who is at the second side of the phone?

“Jack’d” (2014), 33 min, by Huỳnh Nguyễn Đăng Khoa (Việt Nam)
At the last night of his trip, where does Andy – a fresh faced who-has-it-all go, do, and with whom? The film gazes sharply at spaces – physical, imaginary, emotional that are possessed by and that possess city gay men.

All films with English subtitles.

The event is free. Although to support Queer Forever! and Nhà Sàn Collective to keep on going with future programs, please donate a small amount of money, from 30.000 VND when you come to see the films. It includes a free soft drink. Thank you for your supports!

Nhà Sàn COLLECTIVE is not a museum, a gallery or an international culture institute where completed work are presented by established artists. Just like Nhà Sàn Studio before, it is a working studio to nurture where artists can create, collaborate, be given advices, critiques, and have chances to meet with international artists, curators. Works that are presented at open studio every month could be finished or not, but the process of developing idea and working to improve the quality of the art work for local artists is what Nhà Sàn COLLECTIVE focus on.

If you are interest and curious about experimental art, and want to have conversation with the working artists, please visit
