Opening: Tue 03 Mar 2015, 6 pm
Exhibition: 04 – 09 Mar 2015
Vietnam Fine Arts Museum
Dear friends and supporters,
Following the success of the inaugural Grapevine Selection Volume 1, we are putting together the second art exhibition in March 2015.
The Grapevine Selection Volume 1 was held from 01 to 04 November 2013 at Vietnam National Museum of Fine Arts with the participation of 8 well-known Vietnamese contemporary artists: Vuong Van Thao, Ha Manh Thang, Nguyen Quang Huy, Pham Huy Thong, Nguyen Minh Thanh, Pham Ngoc Duong, Nguyen Huy An, and Le Quy Tong. During the course of the exhibition we welcomed a big audience including both Vietnamese and international visitors who shared an interest in quality Vietnamese original artworks.
In Volume 2 of The Grapevine Selection we will shift our focus to young emerging artists from across the country, with additional activities such as art tours, art talks or workshops. We will also provide a series of articles to trigger thoughts on the necessity to have a domestic art market in Vietnam.
Artists and artworks are being carefully selected by the Grapevine team, including founder Brian Ring, with invaluable advice and support from:
– Dr. Natasha Kraevskia (founder of the famous Salon Natasha and member of the Hanoi Grapevine Board of Advisors),
– Tran Luong (internationally recognized contemporary artist and curator, co-founder of Nha San Collective)
– KVT (Grapevine’s well-known and prolific commentator on the arts in Hanoi).
The Grapevine Selection series is a private initiative by the Grapevine team, as a part of our mission of promoting arts and culture in Vietnam by finding the answers to the following questions:
(1) How can we best promote young artists?
(2) How can we best support the arts community?
(3) How can we help to educate audiences and future potential customers, and to encourage collectors?
(4) How can we contribute to the development of an art market in Vietnam?
(5) How can we contribute to the development of creative industries in Vietnam?
We will provide more information following this first announcement shortly. Please save the dates and we look forward to welcoming you to The Grapevine Selection Volume 2 in March 2015.
