Tran Huu Nhat’s figurative watercolors describe the world as he sees it – the neighbourhood he lives in, including the bad guys, the good guys, the children; and his visions of destruction.

“As I perceive it, society is bleak; yet the gloomier society, the more angry and inflamed with rage I feel. I paint when I have felt inflamed and crazed enough…”

Tran Huu Nhat (born 1981) lives and works in Hue where he graduated from the University of Art and Music.

Studio Tho is reviving the the traditional manner of mounting hanging scrolls, an Asian method unlike Western display techniques. The works in this exhibition have been mounted in this way, but can be remounted into customary wooden frames on request.
