Workshop: How to Develop a Portfolio for Pre-University / A-Level Entry in Art and Design Studies

We would like to invite high school students who are interested in studying art and design studies in the UK to the workshop ‘How to develop a portfolio for pre-university/ A Level entry in art and design studies’ delivered by Mr Colin Kerrigan, Executive Director from International School of Creative Arts.

At the event, Colin Kerrigan will give participants examples of typical project work and art and design concepts to be included in a portfolio. Besides, he will also brief about career opportunities in the Creative Arts.
Participants should bring A4 paper and pencils to the workshop.

Subject Choices:
*** A Level Plus: ISCA offers a two year programme of study focused on the visual arts, which equips students with the necessary technical and intellectual skills to progress to leading art and design universities in both the UK and overseas. By the end of the course students will have two credit-bearing sets of qualification:
– At the end of Year 1, successful students will have earned the OTHM Level 3 Diploma in two art and design subjects of their choice.
– At the end of Year 2, successful students will have earned an A-Level qualification in up to three subjects of their choice.
*** Portfolio Preparation: This programme is available to students who join ISCA directly in Year 2. They already have the academic qualification needed for university but lack the body of art work required to access undergraduate study in the creative arts.
*** A Level Preparatory Programme: This is an ideal course for students who are interested in joining our A level classes, but who may not be quite ready for a full-time A level course. This may be because they have not previously studied art to a sufficient level or because their English language ability needs further improvement.
*** ISCA Summer Programme: ISCA Summer 2018 comprises many creative and cultural opportunities working under a broad and exciting theme. Students will be guided through a series of dynamic art and design assignments by experienced ISCA tutors. Skills and styles of working are introduced and developed within the subject areas of Fine Art, Fashion and Graphic Communications.
As a special addition for this year, students will also have the choice to study on Summer Plus, which is a preliminary week designed to deepen understanding of art and design, and also develop skills in drawing and colour work.
Campus:
Situated in over 20 acres of beautiful rural grounds in Buckinghamshire, our facilities include an indoor swimming pool, new sports hall, tennis courts and football pitches.
All courses are located in our recently renovated building. The building accommodates a number of specialist art studios that are also available during after-school hours for students wishing to complete homework or personal projects. Extracurricular workshops also take place here. The campus also includes a 3D printer, laser cutter, printing press and well-equipped darkroom which offer great scope for realising ideas.
Scholarships:
At the end of each academic year, ISCA awards generous scholarships to three deserving first year students who have excelled in their work. The scholarships take the form of a significant reduction in tuition fees.
In 2017, Parker Gibson received the Professor Jimmy Choo ISCA Scholarship in recognition of the academic excellence he dedicated to his art & design studies. In his work, he shows exceptional creativity and a palpable interest in exploring ideas and experimenting with media.
Yihui Zhang was the worthy recipient of the Edward Guinness Patron’s Scholarship, which is designed to help an outstanding student further realise their creative and academic potential. Ms Zhang also demonstrated incredible talent and commitment throughout the Think Drawing project.
The Colin Kerrigan Director’s Scholarship was awarded to Ivan Solianik who through sheer hard work demonstrated the most progress during his first year at ISCA. Ivan is a dedicated student and a worthy ambassador across all his subjects.
The scholarships are awarded after careful consideration by all tutors and the prize-giving takes place during the graduation ceremony and end of year show in June.
