DIAMONDS | DIAMANTI (T13)

Year: 2024
Genre: Drama, Comedy
Director: Ferzan Özpetek
Duration: 136 minutes

Content permitted exclusively for viewers aged 13 and older (T13)

“Diamonds” (Diamanti) is director Ferzan Özpetek’s tribute to women, to cinema, and to the unsung people behind the screen.

The film weaves between the present day and 1970s Rome, where two sisters, played by Luisa Ranieri and Jasmine Trinca, run a film costume workshop. In the present-day storyline, Ferzan Özpetek appears as himself, a director who gathers the actresses close to him to share ideas for his new film. The gathering gradually blurs the line between reality and fiction, as the actresses step into the world of the women working in the workshop, with their own passions, wounds, and bonds.

Warm, gentle, and rich in emotion, “Diamonds” does not rely on dramatic climaxes. Instead, it wins viewers over with its sincerity and a touch of romance. Through different destinies, the film recalls the power of love, sisterhood, and heartfelt support among women.

“Diamonds” won the David dello Spettatore (Audience Award) at the 2025 David di Donatello Awards and the title of Film of the Year at the 2025 Nastri d’Argento. With over 16 million euros in box office revenue and more than 2 million admissions in Italy, it is also the most commercially successful work of Ferzan Özpetek’s career.
