From the organizer:
“The Invisible Life” is a solo exhibition by artist Nguyễn Quốc Dũng. Through his practice, Dũng addresses the complex issues taking place in the urban city where he lives.
His body of work offers deep and powerful insights into reality, drawing attention to social conditions such as economic and societial changes, from abandoned neighborhoods to overpopulation and the absence of private spaces, as well as the poor who have been left behind by the wave of urbanization.
He uses oil paint to create images that reflect on reality, the circumstances of low-wage workers, the uncertainties of life, rising inflation, and the indifference brought about by materialism and technology-driven consumerism and their consequences. The exhibition unveils the invisible conditions of the contemporary city.
Dũng’s work is the result of direct observation combined with fictional elements that he edits into his paintings. This allows him to examine a changing social context while raising subjective explorations of history, geopolitics, and art.
“The Invisible Life” presents works that Dũng has created persistently from 2021 to the present, encompassing a wide range of subjects related to his dialogues with life. Each work tells a distinct story hidden behind the lives of people in the city.
