The open studio From Manuscript To Stage: Celebrating The Vu Dinh Long Archive And Legacy initiates a series of multidisciplinary projects honoring the sacred alliance of text, image, and theater.
History recognizes Vu Dinh Long as a pioneer. By authoring A Cup of Poison in 1921, he gave birth to modern Vietnamese spoken theatre; as a publisher, he shaped the intellectual currents of his time. Today, his expansive creative life invites deeper, more rigorous academic exploration.
The archives displayed here do more than preserve history – they activate it. They offer a vital lens through which to examine both Vu Dinh Long’s singular contributions and the evolution of Vietnamese drama. This inaugural presentation marks the opening of the Vu Dinh Long Room, a specialized research hub designed as a crossroads where the past interrogates the present. This space, envisioned as a living laboratory where history, literature, and the visual arts converge, stands as an invitation to scholars, creators, and the public to engage in a contemporary dialogue.
