As part of VFCD 2026, Track 04: Circular Design Week (CDW) 2026 brings together researchers, designers, artists, students, industry partners, and local communities to explore circular design and regenerative futures.
Under the theme Metabolic Abundance, CDW 2026 participants will visit the Mekong Delta to learn from its abundance of local, living knowledge systems and creative practices. These are interconnected relationships that continue to shape resilient communities. What can design learn from the tension between “thuận thiên” – adapting intelligently to natural rhythms, and “kiểm soát” – the impulse to control, optimise, and extract.
The five-day programme combines immersive fieldwork, collaborative making, archive wall display, and Commons conversations to connect research with practice, and local perspectives with global conversations. Designed to be inclusive to all, the programme, whether you are a researcher, student, creative, or policymaker, this is a unique platform to exchange ideas and explore new approaches to design.

21 – 23 Sep| Fieldwork in the Mekong Delta

Spent 02 days on an immersive route across Hậu Giang – Cần Thơ and Trà Vinh together with fellow researchers from Japan, Vietnam, and more. Explore the relationship between local communities, landscapes, heritage, and regenerative practice.
24 – 25 Sep | CDW Commons
(Open to ticket holder)
Join 02 days of intensive dialogue, rapid co-making and experiencing new methods for understanding Metabolic Abundance will expand learning on circularity and regenerative practice. Local and international guests, as well as participants joining these sessions will link their knowledge and experiences with insights gained and guided from the Mekong Delta. Live traces of participant engagement will result in an Alluvial Wall exhibit for VFCD 2026
Vietnam Festival of Creativity & Design 2026 is organised by RMIT University Vietnam in collaboration with a diverse array of individuals, groups, organisations, enterprises in the creative industries.
