AirHue invites you to Ba Cây Chụm Lại… / Good things come in threes, a reading and exhibition with Nguyễn Hoàng Gia Bảo, Terry Nguyễn, and Teline Trần. The program is the culmination of AirHue’s first writer’s cohort, which spanned over the month of August.
The cohort will share work from their collaborative, peer-led writing intensives around the topics of translation, diaspora, experimental writing, and contemporary queer poetics. The first half of the program will include readings from the writers, including fiction and poetry. In the second half of the program, guests are invited to view photographs, audiovisual material, and concrete poetry made by the artists.
The event will be held primarily in English with some Vietnamese translation. Live Vietnamese interpretation will be provided upon request.
About the writing cohort
Nguyễn Hoàng Gia Bảo (Bảo) is a Vietnamese multidisciplinary artist and poet whose works often begin with a sentence, a question, or a playful provocation. He moves poetry through text, sound, moving image, and performance to see how an idea changes as it passes from one form, body, or person to another. Sometimes it survives. Sometimes it mutates, contradicts itself, or forgets where it came from. His practice draws from memories, internet culture, journalism, and popular media. Humour, misremembering, imitation, and deliberate distortion are part of how he works. Bảo often invites audiences into the structure of a work. As you read this so-called biography, perhaps the work has already started. His work and writing have been presented by institutions and platforms including RMIT University, Bard College, Radiophrenia, Maldito Festival, and Mekong Cultural Hub. He holds a BA in Art and Media Studies from Fulbright University Vietnam. He’s still mourning his first poetry chapbook, Childhood Eulogy (2025).
Terry Nguyễn (b. 1998) is a writer from Garden Grove, CA. An MFA candidate in Poetry at Columbia University, she works across genres—including essays, reportage, arts criticism, performance, and photography—to explore how narrative, memory, and identity are constructed. She has seven years of experience working as a writer and editor, beginning her career as a culture journalist in newsrooms like Washington Post and Vox, before pursuing technology and arts coverage at Dirt, Brooklyn Rail, and other independent media outlets. Her critical writing considers how our relationship to language and narrative are being impacted by AI. Her poetry has been published in or is forthcoming in Ugly Duckling Presse’s Second Factory, Asia Art Archive, No, Dear, Iterant, and SARKA. At AirHue, she will be investigating the role of the archive in Vietnamese diasporic poetics, and working on a chapbook about angel numbers, which expands upon her October 2025 performance at Accent Sisters.
Teline Trần (b. 1997) is an American poet. She was born in Orange, California and lives in Brooklyn, New York. For nearly six years, they worked at reading room, writing space, and independent publisher Wendy’s Subway, where they ran a free, bi-weekly writing program and sold books, and Mekong NYC, a grassroots nonprofit for Southeast Asians, where they wrote grants and directed fundraising. Their work concerns the contingencies between the language of identity formation, queerness, social militarization, and humor. Teline’s writing, reading, facilitation, and criticism can be found across online and print publications and performing arts venues such as Annulet: A Journal of Poetics, Dia Chelsea, diaCRITICS (Diasporic Vietnamese Artists Network), Montez Press Radio, The Poetry Project, and Social Text Online. Their first chapbook is Ad Học (2023, Wendy’s Subway). This summer, Teline is writing a novel about a girl who gets trapped in the cockpit of an abandoned fixed-wing aircraft carrier.
