From the organizer:

The exhibition “The Bridge” showcasing 39 artworks by artist Dang Viet will be opened at 5 pm on Monday 6 May 2019, at VICAS Art Studio.

The Long Bien Bridge is a masterpiece of a French architect, and has existed for hundreds of years in Hanoi. Though damaged by bombs in the Vietnam War, the bridge remains fundamentally the same, and so does the love of Hanoi people for it. It has always been a beautiful symbolic image for the integration of Vietnamese culture with Western civilization.

10 paintings of the Long Bien Bridge by Dang Viet in this exhibition are discourses on his emotional nuances, an artist/a Hanoian when standing in front of this bridge. He wanted to show the primordial, soaring spirit of the bridge: the East-West art-culture connection. That spirit is vividly expressed in a deliberate painting language, filled with East/West harmony: It is a combination of artistic thinking about the specific and the symbolic, between reality and abstraction, between traditional materials and modern expressions, between black and other colors, between strokes and patches, between shapes and blocks, between the rules of perspective in Western and Oriental art…
